Sheep Wagon Days

I just finished playing this year's Sheep Wagon Days; a nice little agricultural festival in Craig Colorado. Hosted by the Villard Ranch and the Wyman Museum, Sheep Wagon Days is a three day event that focuses on sharing some of the history behind sheep ranching in the United States. I had my first showing at SWD in 2008 as the event piper. The next year I was invited back to play bagpipes and put on a Country Western show on Saturday night. The following day I had the pleasure of sitting in with Moffat County's very own John Wayne Band.

This year I returned to Sheep Wagon Days as the only entertainer on the schedule. Bagpipes in the morning and a bit of Country and Folk in the afternoon.

As I've worked this event over the past three years it's been nice to build a friendship with the other folks involved. The Villards are great people and event announcer, Art Unsworth is a pleasure to work with. My wife and kids are invited to come with me every year. The kids love it. There is an endless terrain for them to run and play with the Villard kids, and they always enjoy participating in the Mutton Busting.

If you're ever in Craig in Mid-September be sure and stop by the Sheep Wagon Days. I'll be happy to play you a few songs!
